The Calcutta High Court has repealed the declaration of section 144 at Sandeshkhali today afternoon. Justice Joy Sengupta has passed the order and asked for deployment of more armed police force in the area. Lawyer Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya had filed a case in relation to declaration of section 144 and stopping of internet service at Sandeshkhali by the administration. Justice Sengupta today said that police have not taken any case related to atrocities on women at Sandeshkhali for the last three years. Women in the area are afraid of the situation and feel a lack of security.
Skirmish between BJP and police has taken a serious situation at Basirhat today. BJP has alleged that TMC workers were throwing stones towards them while Police have intentionally lathi charged against the BJP workers and supporters. BJP state president Dr Sukanto Majumdar has told that the BJP march was peaceful. Meanwhile a Trinamul Congress team led by minister Partha Bhowmik and MLA Narayan Goswami has gone to Sandeshkhali and spoke to the villagers. TMC has informed that they visited outside of area where Section 144 was imposed.
