PM Narendra Modi to interact with young innovators at Grand Finale of Smart India Hackathon 2024



Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with young innovators at the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon 2024 at 4:30 PM via video conferencing today. Over 1300 student teams are participating in the Grand Finale being held at 51 centres across the country. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that he is looking forward to join the very special programme.

 

He expressed that it will be a delight to interact with pioneering young innovators who will surely enhance India’s growth trajectory in the times to come. The Prime Minister highlighted that over the years, the Smart India Hackathon has emerged as a vibrant forum of encouragement for our youth. Our Correspondent reports that this year, more than 250 problem statements have been submitted by 54 Ministries, Departments, State Governments, and Industries.

 

The Grand Finale of the 7th edition of Smart India Hackathon is in full swing. Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, virtually inaugurated the Grand Finale this morning. Mr Pradhan said that the 36-hour sprint in which students from across the country put their minds to find solutions to contemporary challenges has become a hotspot of innovation and creativity. He noted that students are the drivers of a Viksit Bharat and their innovation and zeal can find solutions to the challenges of the world.

 

The Software Edition will run nonstop for 36 hours, while the Hardware Edition will continue until 15th of this month. Along with solving the problem statements, the teams can also submit their ideas in Student Innovation Category against any of the 17 themes linked to sectors of national importance. These include Healthcare, Supply chain and Logistics, Smart Technologies, Heritage and Culture, Sustainability, Education and Skill Development amongst others.

 

More than 86,000 teams have participated in the SIH 2024 at the institute level and around 49 thousand student teams have been recommended by these institutes for the national level competition. A 150 per cent increase has been recorded in internal hackathons at the institute level, making this the largest edition so far. Adarsh for Akashvani News, Delhi.
