Three Congress candidates and one from BJP, secure victories in Rajya Sabha elections from Karnataka; BJP nominee wins from Himachal Pradesh

In the elections held today for one seat in the Rajya Sabha in Himachal Pradesh, BJP's Harsh Mahajan has emerged victorious. In this election, both Abhishek Manu Singhvi from the Congress and Harsh Mahajan from the BJP received 34-34 votes each. In the draw of lots, BJP's Harsh Mahajan secured the win.

Prior to this, there was intense speculation throughout the day at the Vidhan Sabha premises in Shimla regarding the Rajya Sabha seat election. All 68 MLAs voted in this election, but during the counting, the opposition BJP objected to the vote of Congress MLA Sudarshan Babloo, demanding to declare his vote invalid, which caused a slight delay in the counting process. Opposition leader Jairam Thakur stated that it is a violation of the Election Commission's directives to transport MLA Sudarshan Babloo to Shimla via the Chief Minister's helicopter. In the voting, six Congress MLAs and three independent MLAs voted in favor of the BJP candidate. For the election to one seat in the Rajya Sabha, Abhishek Manu Singhvi was the Congress candidate, while Harsh Mahajan was the BJP candidate. Currently, Congress has 40 MLAs, while BJP has 25 and there are 3 independents.
